Proverbs 12 reminds us that wisdom isn’t proven by agreement—it’s proven by teachability.

This chapter is easy to read and nod along with, but Scripture isn’t asking if we like what it says. It’s asking if we’re willing to be corrected by it.

“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge…” (v.1)

As a mother—and someone who doesn’t love correction at first either, because no one enjoys realizing they’re wrong—I know how quickly we can resist reproof. But Proverbs 12 makes it clear: correction, when received humbly, is not punishment. It’s love.

Our words matter. Our honesty matters. Our consistency in the small, unseen things matters. Wisdom shows up not in what we agree with, but in what we’re willing to submit to.

Am I teachable… or just agreeable?
